Lenten devotional Theme

Why this theme?

This year’s Lenten devotional is on the theme “Cultivating Disciples of Christ to

be ‘Evangels,’ sharing the good news of God’s Transforming Love.” It is the same

as the theme for the region, and we hope it will move you to share God’s

transforming love in new ways with your neighbors and to reflect in new ways on

your relationship with God.

What should I know about this particular devotional?

It is designed so each day you can look up the scripture, read the devotion, then

read the prayer at the end (or create your own prayer in response to the devotion).

NOTE: This region is VERY diverse in all sorts of ways. This is a great gift of

being Disciples. Because this devotional was written by people all over the region

and denomination, it also guarantees that at some point you will come across a

devotion whose theology is very different from your own. Consider this an

opportunity to practice the spiritual discipline of grace, and maybe even self-reflection.

And know that the devotion that moves you most may be one that

someone else struggles with. What a gift, in the midst of our differences, to know

we are all called by God to be Evangels!
